This is a radical new vertical growing hydroponic system with a far more robust and larger design than we have seen before on this type, (215 x 220cm externally). The Pi-Rack from PiTechnics is designed with an opening at the bottom which allows fresh air to circulate easily. Although it is a self contained unit, it is assumed that it is used in a room, with extraction sorted- ideally use a 10” RVK or Box Fan and plenty of fresh air available. A 5” (or larger reduced to 5”) extractor RVK for extracting the 3 x 5" Cooltubes, which are supplied as standard, is also required. We can advise you on all your extraction requirements pre-ordering. The Pi-Rack is of modular design with 8 Walls linking together. The 8 Walls hold 40 x 3.5 litre purpose built square pots each. The octagonal shape, coupled with the 3 x reflector-less CoolShades hanging centrally, ensures that the pots are virtually the same distance from the HPS lights. We offer either 3 x Maxibright Compact 600w’s or 3 x Maxibright Digital 600w’s with a choice of lamps available. The area they easily cover is equal to 3.1415m2.
We think the delivery system is very clever. The plants are all fed separately from drippers built in to the structure, which means that the nightmare scenario of feed lines all over the place is largely done away with. When putting up this system, it is advised to leave a narrow opening at one of the eight corners, for easy access in and out when tending plants.
The 3.5 litre pots all have their own drainage from the system which helps prevent any cross contamination of diseases by water. The pots are quite a decent size, with drain holes covered by a net pot which filters and aids drainage, helping the root mass to enlarge and be more effective when absorbing feeds and water. A Mix of clay pebbles/ Hydro Rokz and rockwool small grow-cubes are the suggested media for the pots.
It has an easy click together design which goes down handily too and is highly pre-engineered in the factory. The Pi-Rack basic is well packed in 3 boxes (120 x 30 x30cm) and includes the 320 pots, sprinklers, drain tubing and all small fittings necessary and a heavy duty Tallas ACI 125 pump which is capable of 7500L/hour with a more than ample lift of 6.5m and the BigShop supplies the 3 x Cooltubes as part of the Basic package.
