Grasslin segmental plug in timers have a multitude of uses in a growroom. Grasslin timers are built to last longer than a budget timer. Use Grasslin for all lights whether HPS or flourescent and use Grasslin for automated hydroponic systems- a budget timer is more likely to fail and you could lose a crop if they don't get watered for a few days.
Each segment on the timer represents 15 minutes. When the segments are pushed in towards the middle, they are off. When out, they are on. There is also a sliding switch for off, timer use and just on. When using fluorescents Grasslin are the timers to use- without a contactor relay generally. When using HPS lighting a contactor relay such as a Powerstar Contactor should be used to prevent overloading timers and burning them out (they usually melt within a few minutes of the light going on as the light is using more watts for the warm-up).
