Flood and Drain or Ebb & Flood is a hydroponic method of growing that produces excellent results with a huge amount of aeration being supplied, in particular, to the root zones of your plants where it leads to greater yields. This is achieved by flooding the growth medium (clay pebbles) with a nutrient and water solution, activated with a timer, and in the act of flooding the root area, all the stale air is forced out. After 15 minutes, the timer switches the pump off and the table drains via a drain hole and also back siphons through the delivery tube and pump. As the liquid drains away, it creates a space where fresh air rushes in and provides maximum air to your roots and because of the free drainage there is no water logging occurring. In this way you have fed and watered your plants and they have received a healthy dose of fresh oxygen to the roots. The timer is usually run so that it switches on every 60 minutes for 15 minutes during daylight hours.
The Flood & Drain systems that The BigShop stock, come in three differing sizes (EF120, EF230 & EF420), to suit growers large and small. They feature the Tank or reservoir with a pump and delivery tube which feeds up to the bottom of the Table, with two holes in the bottom of the Table which incorporate the drain and inlet fittings. A Correx Top Plate is also supplied. Clay Pebbles/ Hydro Rokz (the ideal growth medium for Ebb & Flood growing) are used to fill the Table volume and are supplied separately.
The EF120 is the smallest system and is ideal for 2-4 plants. The Tank is 71 x 61 x 19cm and its volume is 45 litres. The Table is 56 x 56 x 11.5cm and the pump is an MC450.
The EF230 is a square Table of dimensions 112 x 112 x 11.5cm and the Tank’s dimensions are 120 x 69.5 x 24cm with a volume of 123 litres. A MaxiJet 1000 does the pumping and this system will suit 4-9 plants. Please note the exceptional price on this particular EF230 system- it offers excellent value for money.
The EF420 is a longer system suited to grow 6-10 plants. The Tank is 176.5 x 62 x 24cm, volume 114 litres, and the Table is 152.5 x 51 x 11.5cm. Supplied with a MaxiJet 1000 pump.
