Extraction is the 2^nd most effective piece of equipment in your growroom, poly tunnel or greenhouse. Often neglected by amateur poly tunnel growers, but absolutely essential for increased growth in any indoor grow situation, ventilation makes a huge difference to yield and general plant vitality. As well as providing a supply of fresh oxygen to the plants, a good air circulation and adequate extractor system will aid control of humidity and help prevent conditions conducive to damp, mold, Botrytis, Pythium, Fusarium and other very damaging forms of rot, root diseases and unsanitary grow conditions. A good indoor grow environment should be treated as a clean laboratory rather than a dirty outhouse.

They are designed to run 24/7 x 365 days per year. German made to German quality standards, we sell their sizes from 4” 100mm to 12” 315mm. We always highly recommend that you consider a size up from what your calculations lead you to, as a larger size, slowed down with a controller, moves the same air more efficiently and quietly.

 We have also started selling High Output acoustic wooden box fans- these are for the larger grower. The bigshop staff are happy to advise on any aspect of extraction set up and requirements either by phone or email- you also have to consider the amount of heat produced by HPS lamps- we recommend using 600w’s as standard unless you are in a tiny grow space. The main advantage to going “large” is that you can run your extractor at a lower speed than full speed using a Manual Fan Controller. This makes the airflow noise run more quietly. We sell bare ducting which is a cheap way of connecting up your fan, filter, ducting, wall plate spigot etc. but it makes more sense to use acoustic ducting which will limit the noise level from airflow.

 The RVK is actually pretty quiet but it is the high efficiency of the RVK that means it moves a lot of air. Turn it down with a fan controller. Avoid bends in your ducting where possible as it reduces airflow by up to 20%, bends make the extractor motor work harder unnecessarily and adds to airflow noise. Every 10m run of ducting also reduces airflow by another 20%. Thus, we recommend stepping up a size. If you only have one light, a 4” 100mm will be fine, but still consider all aspects of noise management when designing your extractor system.

 Carbon Filters are made of metal with an inner clear bore of your fan diameter, surrounded by high quality activated carbon granules which will absorb smells and odours from a grow room, poly tunnel or greenhouse very effectively. We have all manner of ducting, metalwork ie “T’s” and “y’s”, reducers, wall spigots or flanges, fast clamps and large metal quick clamps.
