The BigShop offer a selection of airstones for use in your hydroponic system or large nutrient storage/ mixing barrel, and we have Airline & airline Tees. The 3” and 5” Round Airstones are great value and will spread oxygen evenly around the dense plastic ring achieving a healthy rapid flow of upward oxygen bubbles.

The Rena 4” Straight Ceramic Airstones are highly recommended and are packaged in a protective layer until you unwrap them. They have suckers on the bottom of them which are useful for keeping them in position and makes them an excellent choice for your plants and for all hydro growers.

For those wanting to aerate lots of smaller systems ie Oxypots then we have 1” Ball diffuser air-stones- they are lollipop sized and connect to airline and then perhaps an airline Tee and Rena Airpump.

Note: You don’t need a massive airstone. What is needed is a massive supply of air. Rena supply a very good range of Rena Airpumps- 100, 200, 300 and a twin outlet Rena 600. The numbers refer to the size of tank that can be effectively aerated ie a Rena 300 will achieve good healthy oxygen levels in a 300L tank.  

For those of you already familiar with the benefits of adding massive amounts of oxygen to your roots then skip this bit and get to the prices..... if you haven’t actually seen?... or run your hydroponic system with loads more air?... then this could change your life! Of course you need a good supply of water and pH balanced nutrient too, but one of the main principles of hydroponics is to have a more than ample supply of oxygen at your roots, so getting your roots fizzing with bubbles will create very high growth rates and makes hydroponics far more creative. Without really good levels of O2 then you won’t get monster sizes.

NFT growers leave the roots open to the air and are already well supplied but can still benefit from an airstone and airpump. When using clay pebbles/ Hydro Rokz, which have a high size to mass ratio, for your growth medium in Multiflows, Flood & Drains and Wilma Dripper Systems, the clay pebbles allow plenty of air to get into the rootzone. Maximise this for staggering results- get your reservoirs and clay pebbles full of fresh oxygen with airstones and airpumps.
